A beautifully designed print and online annual from Maryland Institute College of Art, Full Bleed is seeking poetry, fiction, graphic essays, and nonfiction. Their eclectic aesthetic reflects the broad range of voices that inform contemporary art and design. They welcome conflicting perspectives and evolving ideas, essential to progress. To get a sense of their style, you can read past issues online.
Right now through January 1st, Full Bleed is seeking submissions for their fourth issue, scheduled for publication in Spring 2020. For Issue Four, Fell Bleed is especially interested in submissions exploring the theme of archives. Authors published in Full Bleed receive an honorarium.
Full Bleed publishes fiction and poetry, as well as graphic essays, criticism, belle lettres, artwork, design, and illustrations. They publish essays up to 7,500 words, as well as shorter columns around 800 to 2,000 words. Themes of shorter columns include: “Close Looks”: in-depth analyses of individual art pieces; “Design Features”: ideas around contemporary challenges in design; “Cities”: thoughts about urban life and innovations; and “Studio Visit”: interviews with contemporary artists and designers.
Full Bleed accepts submissions online, not via email or by post. They do not accept previously published work.
