Lou Lit Review: Now Seeking Submissions

Lou Lit Review is a print literary magazine of fiction and poetry produced by Louisburg College. They publish writing that explores place-based experience, from their local streets of Franklin County, North Carolina to locations around the globe.

Starting in Spring 2018, Lou Lit Review will be published once a year in print. As submissions are accepted, they may be published online prior to print publication. Authors interested in submitting can check their website for samples of accepted work to get a sense of their style.

Right now through October 31, Lou Lit is accepting submissions for their first issue. They will close to submissions in November and December, and reopen annually on January 1. Keep in mind that the staff at Lou Lit reads all submissions during their winter and summer breaks, so they typically respond to submissions within about six months. At certain times of the year, it could take up to seven or eight months to receive a response. Response times for fiction submissions are currently slower than for poetry. Authors are welcome to query about their submissions after six months.

Authors of fiction may submit flash pieces up to 1,200 words. They accept both speculative and mimetic fiction. Poets may submit four to five poems. Authors whose work is accepted should refrain from submitting again that year.

Lou Lit accepts submissions online, but not via email or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions, and ask that authors of fiction whose work is accepted elsewhere withdraw their published pieces. Authors of poetry do not need to notify Lou Lit when submitted poems are published elsewhere; however, they may choose to decline publication contracts if offered. Lou Lit does not accept previously published work, including work that has appeared in other journals, magazines, newspapers, or public blogs.

53 Magazines Seeking Genre Fiction
