SICK: Now Seeking Submissions

A brand-new magazine written by people experiencing chronic illness and disability, SICK is seeking submissions for online publication. They publish thoughtful writing on a wide variety of topics: arts, culture, politics, feminism, lifestyle, sports, music, literature, and more. SICK hopes to showcase the unique perspectives of people experiencing chronic illness and disability, in relation to life’s many layers.

Now through June 1st, SICK is accepting submissions for their introductory edition, which will give readers a taste of their first full issue scheduled for publication in 2020. Submitting authors can expect a response by June 10th.

Authors may submit: personal essays, 1,000 words or fewer; political op-eds, 1,000 words or fewer; interviews with writers, artists, creatives, or entrepreneurs, 1,000 words or fewer; short stories, 1,500 words or fewer; flash fiction; creative nonfiction, 1,500 words or fewer; features on health, illness, disability, feminism, arts, culture, lifestyle, or music, 1,500 words or fewer; poetry, up to five poems; photography, illustration, collage, or other visual art, six to eight images.

SICK pays £0.10 per word and £30 for poems, photographs, illustrations, collages, and other art pieces. They accept submissions via email, not online or by post.
