The Unconventional Courier: Now Seeking Submissions

This literary magazine focuses on publishing stories and poems that “deal with human nature and philosophy.”  They accept short stories, novel chapters, poetry, and also dark/light academia themed work, philosophy themed work and human nature themed work. Their tag line is “heavy lit for heavy hearts and heavier minds”.  They also run a podcast and a discord.

They are a bi monthly publication, publishing 1 issue every two months. You can read the most recent issue here to get a good feel for what they publish. You can access their home page here.

The preferred word length all prose is between 200 – 6000 words. Writers are allowed to submit up to 5 works every month. They are not interested in anything that is offensive and incendiary. They go into specifics in their submission guidelines in terms of what they are not open to receiving, and you can learn more about that here. Their submission guidelines/preferences have clearly evolved over time, and it’s clear they’re newer to publishing non-fiction work.

They do accept art and photography submissions for the cover of each issue.

They accept all work through Google Forms, and you can access that here.
